Have you ever wondered what the five stages of smart home automation are?
Traditional Home
This home has basic electronic devices running limited home automation, such as timers, but the home controls remain traditional and are not smart devices. They are neither connected to the internet nor accessible anywhere other than the main device itself.
Piecemeal Automation
This level of the home has smart devices, but they are not connected to each other. The devices may behave automatically for some tasks, and they may be controllable by dedicated phone apps, but they do not integrate with other smart home devices.
Limited Integration
The home has a combination of a few smart devices that connect with one another, but they still must be accessed in their individual apps and cannot work together to perform multi-device automation.
Full Integration
This level of home connects all categories of smart devices-entertainment, lighting, security, comfort-and orchestrates them together as a single, sophisticated system designed to enrich the life of the homeowner. Unlike previous levels, Full Integration provides a homeowner with quick access to their entire smart home through one operating system. All connected smart devices are easily accessible in multiple ways, such as through a single mobile app, voice control, touch screens in the home, programmed presets, and more.
Predictive Automation
Future AI automation for the home will learn based on homeowner habits and anticipate automation needs. While this option isn’t available today, installing full integration will allow a homeowner to continue to enhance their home as new technology becomes available.
